Welcome!

UW CTF Club's S22 Contest is a jeopardy-style capture-the-flag cybersecurity competition? aimed at University of Waterloo students (that is, you!)

Contest Structure

The competition will run 6pm July 15th to noon July 17th, 2022, Eastern Time, for a total of 42 hours. There are two divisions: noob and pro, with each having the options of Open and UW Student.

Divisions

The competition's rCTF divisions are Open and UW Student; if you are not a UW Student, sign up under Open; only UW students that are MathSoc and CSC members can win prizes. noob challenges will have maximum 50 points, and pro challenges minimum 1000 points. If you successfully complete any pro challenge, you will be placed into that division automatically. The noob category is reserved for participants with no (or very little) prior CTF experience.

Teams

Participants in the noob division will work on their own; participants in the pro division can form teams of up to 3.

Communication

To communicate with organizers and each other (no discussing problems outside your team during the contest though!), join our Discord server.

You can also contact the organizers through email at ctfclub@uwaterloo.ca or message raymo on Libera.Chat via IRC.

Rules

The rules of the competition are common sense: be nice, don't hack things not indended for you to hack. Additional rules apply to the Discord server; they are posted there.

The welcome flag is uwctf{1r34dth3ru135_2a63515062101c52}.

You may make use of any code or tools published before the start of the contest period so long as it is publicly accessible. Otherwise, you may only use your own code/tools/methods you create yourself during the contest. You may not discuss these problems with anyone outside your team during the contest.

Prizes

There will be $110 in total prize money, split between noob ($20) and pro ($90) divisions.
